Pod Repair Cafe

The Repair Cafe is a joint project with The Pod Project and Laurencetown, Lenaderg and Tullylish Community Association (LLTCA). The Pod Repair cafe will run alternately in Donaghcloney and Laurencetown. For details of the next Repair Cafe see our events page.

The Pod Repair Cafe was inspired by the work of the Belfast Repair Cafe and Repair Cafe movement and the wonderful stories of restoration and community.

What is a Repair Cafe?

Repair Cafés help people to get stuff fixed for free; stuff that might otherwise lie unloved at the back of a cluttered cupboard or end up in landfill when it could be brought back to life.

The kinds of things which might be fixable at a repair café include small electronics; simple computer problems; toys with broken wheels; torn clothes, missing buttons, broken zips; small items of furniture; bicycles; books; or other household items. You either come and fix it yourself or get the help and advice of specialist volunteers to carry out a repair.

Repair Cafes are not set up to compete with professional repair businesses. In fact, they are a great way to signpost people to reliable and reviewed professionals if a repair is too difficult to do at the pop up cafe or needs specialist equipment.

How do I get involved?

If you are someone that likes to help repair things, or wants to make people feel welcome by serving tea and coffee or just wants to come and meet with people then please get in touch about volunteering thepodprojectni@gmail.com
